Thanks for writing this. I think it would benefit from:

tinc-up being rewritten to use "ip"
using real BitFolk IP addresses throughout so it's clearer which parts should be modified
picking two host names, e.g. laptop and vps so it's clearer which end is which

I am happy to make these edits some time soon if you agree that is reasonable.

Looks like you need to do some tweak to make the tunnel be a TAP type... working on this Jamie
